Silicone resin is a highly cross-linked thermosetting polysiloxane system with Si-O-Si as the main chain and organic groups connected to the silicon atoms. The special composition and structure of silicone resin endow it with heat resistance and weather resistance, as well as excellent hydrophobicity, electrical insulation, flame retardancy, chemical resistance, radiation resistance, mold resistance, anti-adhesion and demoulding properties. Its products mainly involve electrical insulating paint, coatings, adhesives, plastics, flame retardants, moisture-proof agents, micropowders and ladder polymers, etc., and are widely used in electronic appliances, light industrial textiles, construction, medical, aerospace and other fields.

Research Progress of Modified Silicone Resin

Silicone resin has many excellent properties and occupies an irreplaceable position in many fields. However, it also has shortcomings such as poor curability, adhesion, solvent resistance and compatibility. These weak factors limit its promotion and application, resulting in silicone resin The market share of silicone oil, silicone rubber, and silane coupling agents is far lower than that of organic silicon compounds such as silicone oil, silicone rubber, and silane coupling agents. Therefore, it is often necessary to make up for the weaknesses through modification or compounding to broaden the application scope of the material.

At present, research on silicone resin generally focuses on the following two aspects:

1. Modify silicone resin through physical or chemical methods to strengthen certain aspects of excellent performance or weaken unfavorable factors;

2. Composite silicone resin with other materials, integrate the advantages, overcome the shortcomings of a single material, expand the application range of materials and prepare high-performance composite materials.

The former has been studied more on the introduction of polar groups into the main chain or side chain of silicone resin and the use of organic resin to modify silicone resin. The method has a long research history and is relatively mature; the latter has been a hot research topic in recent years and will be used more frequently. The combination of hot materials in the field and silicone has great development potential, but it is often inseparable from the basic support of the former's research results.
