Manta MS350 Silane Terminated Polyether

Manta MS350 is a silicone reinforced polyether based silane terminated polymer suitable for moisture curing adhesive formulations. It is a clear, low viscosity adhesive, this polymer complements the elastomeric adhesive series, and can be easily mixed with this product group in different proportions to tailor the respective application properties. MS350 is based on alpha technology, that is to say the structure of the nitrogen atoms is close to the moisture active silicon atoms. It hydrolyzes in the presence of moisture, ultimately forming a stable siloxane network, initiated by mild catalysis, rather than heavy metal ions.

Processing  

Manta MS350 dissolves readily in standard organic solvents but is nearly insoluble in water. Upon exposure to moisture, the polymer undergoes a slow hydrolysis reaction, releasing methanol and initiating cross-linking. This reactivity with atmospheric humidity must be strictly managed during storage and processing to prevent premature gelation or an unintended increase in viscosity.

MS350 is compatible with conventional compounding methods and standard mixing equipment. To adjust the flexibility or modulus of formulations based on MS350, it is highly recommended to blend it with other silane-modified polymers, such as Manta M310.

While the curing of MS350 does not strictly require organometallic catalysts, dioctyltin (DOT) can be utilized if a specific curing profile or accelerated reactivity is required.
